It seems abilities have finally been restored.

[Guess who sounds pretty apathetic about this. He's a little more animated about the second topic, however.]

Also, I missed much of the events that happened the last week or two. I heard something regarding a bomb which, presumably, didn't detonate. It would be appreciated if someone could inform me of what occurred in regards to that.

I know you don't. [He snorts, frustrated.] You're so ensconced in it yourself, you can't see the difference.

[Reasoning and negotiating. Not necessarily appeasing. But doing whatever Lucifer wants to keep certain people safe? That shouldn't be happening.]

You realize you're making deals with the devil.

[It doesn't have much meaning behind it when Hitsugaya says it. It's only a phrase to him, one hadn't even heard before arriving in Adstring. But to literally make deals with Lucifer seems ... off. The consequences should be obvious, shouldn't they? Short-term safety in exchange for long-term torment. Hell doesn't have to exist for that sort of consequence to take effect.]

I am aware. I made a deal with him prior, about three months ago, and it held until just before this latest event began; he kept his word during the time.

So that's really all you've got.

[He scoffs, and it's followed by a barely audible wooshing sound, likely Hitsugaya waving his arm through the air.]

You'll ask Lucifer nicely if he'll leave your friends alone. That's how you're interceding.

What do you expect from me? That is the only option I have available. Attacking Lucifer is suicide, even if I had a weapon that would be of use against him, because he will simply return. Convincing him not to take action, or simply distracting his attention, are the only things that will not attract retribution from him.

I expect you to use that damn brain of yours I've heard so much about!

You are so sure that if you don't appease the bastard, he'll strike, but your words cannot control his actions. You say you intend to protect your allies, and then you focus not on them but on your enemy.

This isn't about attacking him. It's about defense. If you are as helpless as you say you are, then you need to set up defenses. You cannot bargain with someone you don't trust and not set up safeguards. You need solid defenses that will allow your allies time to retreat.

The Temple is warded to the point where no angel can enter the building, or sense anyone or anything within. The Tower within the maze is also protected in such a way. Many of those here are unable to be sensed by Lucifer due to sigils.

Retreating, however, is ultimately pointless, unless someone wishes to hide for the rest of their time here. Lucifer usually has a reason and a point for acting against someone. Placating him is still necessary. I know what his main goal is here and that can be used.

Then don't say speaking to Lucifer is all you can do!

[He tsks in ever mounting frustration, though Castiel's mention of two safe places calms him down a bit. That should have been the first thing he mentioned. Most of all, however, what bothers the shinigami is that, point blank, he's being told not even the angels can do anything against a damn angel.]

As I said, warding a location is ultimately ineffectual. In the sense of a long term solution, the only viable strategy is to convince him not to take action to begin with.

...Even though it's just as faulty as every other tactic.

I'm just clarifying. [His voice is just as frigid, just as firm.] You're saying that nothing anyone can do, that at least you are aware of, has a remotely viable success rate unless your Lucifer genuinely sees no reason to act.

For the most part, yes. If there were some other option, or a way to make certain he wouldn't harm those here, I would have done it a long time ago. I have been trying everything possible, and so far, only this has been working; I have had some success, and my brother Gabriel has even more influence. Neither of us want to see Lucifer harm anyone.

...Don't let him touch her again.

I won't.

[Oh good, because if he does, Hitsugaya's putting that big sword of his to use, one way or another.
